It's amazing that the last leaked Android 4.4.2 firmware for the Galaxy S4 was a month ago with nothing since. Sam Mobile obviously think it is strange too, so they've decided to release the latest test firmware they have on hand for one of the most popular devices around right now: the international Galaxy S4 GT-I9505. We just shared some Android 4.4.2 firmware for the Exynos 5-powered international Galaxy S4earlier today, but this is Samsung test firmware, not a ROM.
The firmware, with a build date of January 28th and build number I9505XXUFNAD is available via Sam Mobile. Major changes include white status bar icons and performance boost, along with the camera shortcut on the lock screen and immersive mode for music playback. There's also more emoji support, a new keyboard layout, default Hangouts, Home settings and wireless printing options as part of Android 4.4.2.
As always, proceed at your own risk, as neither AndroidPIT nor myself will take any responsibility for any damage done to your device if catastrophe strikes. This is Samsung test firmware for the Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 (Open Europe) and as such will not void your warranty or increase your flash counter. However, it is still test firmware so as usual, do a full backup of your data and apps before you start, and a Nandroid of your complete system if you want to revert to that later.
Install Android 4.4.2 firmware on Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505
1. Download the firmware here: Android 4.4.2 firmware test Samsung GT-I9505 Galaxy S4.
2. Unzip the zip file.
3. Download Odin 3.09, and unpack the .zip also.
4. Launch Odin.
5. Reboot your Galaxy S4 in download mode (Volume Down + Power + Home button).
6. Connect your Galaxy S4 via USB cable to your computer and wait for Odin to recognize it. A blue box should then appear (in the program).
7. Add: AP_I9505XXUFNAD_481100_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 to the AP box.
BL_I9505XXUFNAD_481100_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 to the BL box.
CP_I9505XXUFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 to the CP box.
CSC_OXX_I9505OXXFNA2_549230_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 to the CSC box.
8. Make sure that the re-partition box is not checked.
9. Click Start and wait a few minutes until the procedure ends. Do not disconnect your S4, be patient.
10. Once your Galaxy S4 restarts, it's over!
As usual, if you have any concerns at startup, perform a wipe data/factory reset in recovery mode (Volume Up + Power + Home button).
