Galaxy core clamps with 4g in Europe and AsiA

We suspected this would happen: Samsung has just announced the latest device in theirSamsung Galaxy Core lineup- the Samsung Galaxy Core LTE.

Coming to Europe, Russia, and Asia, the device will be called the “Samsung Galaxy Core 4G” in some markets. Considering the boasting of 4G speeds  is somewhat of focal point of the Galaxy Core, if you guessed it’s mid-range device, you guessed right. That’s why the name makes sense: it’s a solid device that will get all the basic things done without all the fluff. If you don’t want or need all the bells, whistles, specs, and features, you might want the core.

• 1.2GHz Dual Core processor

• 8GB Memory

As fate would have it, you only have to buy 1 core to get 2 of them.
This is definitely not the type of phone that tech geeks drool over, but it serves an important group of price sensitive folks who just want something that works. For them, it would seem the stripped down Galaxy Core should do just fine, and we’re guessing it would come at a bargain.
One reason I love Android: even though this device is “mid-range”, it’s 4.5-inch screen size is HD, which many people may prefer to smaller devices like the iPhone 5S which only has 4-inch screen and is pricey, pricey, pricey. Android is all about options, options, options. We’ll be there to check out this and the rest of the new mobile announcements at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, only 1 week away.

Latest round of leaked HTC M8 images show new metallic finish

Samsung already announced their big reveal date for their upcoming flagship during next week’s Mobile World Congress. And where Samsung has been doing a bang-up job at keeping the Galaxy S5 behind their curtain, rival OEM HTC hasn’t been so lucky.
We’ve been waiting for an official word on when HTC plans to reveal their big follow-up to theHTC One — the HTC M8 — but in the meantime, the device has been making numerous appearances in leaks. Although, we’ll admit, a good majority of were likely fakes/hoaxes, this latest leak’s authenticity is pretty much undeniable.
What you’re looking at are some purported images captured of the HTC M8 in the wild, allegedly take by a Google+ user. You’ll notice the device appears very similar to appearance to the most recent leak giving us a clear view of the front, only now we have a clear look at the back. You’ll notice the device has much more curved corners, and what appears to be a slightly polished, more metallic finish than the current HTC One (M7). We know not everyone is going to agree with this new move, but if it provides for better grip, we’ll adjust.

Some users on Reddit seem convinced that this could in fact be the HTC M8 Mini given the size of the speaker holes and skinnier aspect ratio but it’s tough to tell. Of course, we’ll need further confirmation but when holding our current HTC One in the same manner as the pics, reveals a phone that’s largely the same size (this M8 appears to be slightly taller).
If you needed further confirmation that the above images are real, HTC evangelist, Shen Ye, was able to vouch for them, also confirming a single detail about the upcoming HTC M8: the device’s rumored micro SD card slot. Now that’s some change many Android users could get used to.

Nokia X series Android phones shot leaked

It isn't easy being green. With less than a week before Nokia's Android phone is revealed, the emerald-hued Nokia X has surfaced in another leaked photo.

Codenamed the Nokia X or Nokia Normandy, the new phone is expected to be Nokia's first Android blower. Twitter tipster @evleaksshows off the new snap, which appears to be a marketing or advertising image. 

Last week Nokia dyed its Facebook and Twitter pages green, apparently in readiness for the X. Both pages have now gone back to different colours, including the familiar Lumia yellow. What can it all mean?

The green hue of the phone in these leaked photos is reminiscent of the signature green of Google's Android, personified in the domed head of the software's mascot. That seems odd, however, as Nokia is reported to be distancing itself from Google at least in as far as the phone will not access Google Play, but will download apps from Nokia's own-brand Android store.

Nokia unveil the lowest rate Android smart phone on late February

Seattle: Nokia will unveil a low-cost smartphone running a version of Google Inc's Android operating system, despite the company's close partnership with Microsoft Corp and its competing Windows system, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

The handset division of the Finnish company, which is in the final stages of being acquired by Microsoft, will show off the new phone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month, the report said on Monday, citing unidentified sources who were familiar with the matter.

Nokia and Microsoft declined to comment. The new Android phone will be aimed at emerging markets and will not feature some of Google's higher-end, custom Android features.

Microsoft and its main handset partner Nokia have struggled to make an impression in the smartphone market dominated by Samsung's Android devices and Apple Inc's iPhone.

According to technology research firm, Strategy Analytics, 79 per cent of smartphones shipped worldwide last year ran on Android, 15 percent were iPhones running Apple's iOS and only 4 per cent ran Windows Phone software.
